Fall Protection |
|
The flexible cable system consists of top and bottom brackets that act as anchors for a steel cable that runs the length of the climbing surface. Systems include top and bottom bracket assemblies, cable guides, and cable. A working system requires a safety sleeve, a carabiner, and a body harness, which must be purchased separately. All items are distributed by DBI/SALA. |

Harnesses are available in the cross-over style, full body harness or in the tower climbing version. The tower climbing harness features two tool pouch D-rings and a permanently attached seat sling. An accessory Y-lanyard connects to seat sling D-rings on the tower climbing harness to allow attachment of the seat sling to the tower structure. |

Wall Attachment (Grounding) |
|
A "standard" grounding system per TIA/EIA-222-F consists of 5/8" diameter galvanized steel ground rods driven not less than 8' into the ground, and bonded to the grounded structure with a lead of not smaller than number 6 tinned bare copper wire.
A self-supporting tower requires one ground rod at each leg.
A monopole requires a minimum of one ground rod.
A guyed tower requires two ground rods at the base of the tower and one at each anchor point. The grounding cable at each ancor must be connected to each guy line. For this reason, teh cost of a grounding system varies with the number of guys as well as with the number of anchors.
Ehresmann Engineering can provide any item for specific tower needs. For different sizes of ground rods, lighting rods, or compression lugs, or for complete systems, call for information. |

Tower Lighting (Lighting) |
|
Tower lighting and marking requirements are established by the Federal Aviation Administration Advisory Circular AC 70/7460-1K. In short, towers exceeding an overall height of 200 feet above ground level (AGL) must be marked and /or lighted. With the proper lighting, the painting of towers may not be required. For example, when towers of 500 feet AGL or less are lighted 24-hours a day with white, medium intensity flashing lights, painting is not required. Taller towers may similarly avoid paint through the use of high-intensity strobe lighting.
In areas when a flashing whit strobe may not be welcome at night, towers can be lighed with a dual system, providing white lighting during the day and red lights for nighttime and twilight.
(Note: The FAA may determine that a tower poses a greater than normal hazard to aviation, and direct more stringent requirements than listed above. Contact your nearest FAA office for guidance.)
